Commercial Floor Coating

Auto Paint Factory in Grand Rapids, MI replaced a 12 year old epoxy floor with a new V8 full chip application. The project involved men's and women's bathroom, break room and hallway. The old floor was removed using diamond grinding wheels and the new floor color is the V400 chip. The bathrooms also feature an 8" vertical finish for cleaning and aesthetic purposes. The hallway and break room received a 4" vertical finish. The entire project totaled just over 2000-sf and was completed in 3 phases working primarily after hours and weekends (around shifts). As a paint factory, dust was a major concern. Extra care was taken to ensure dust was contained by closing off the areas where grinding was taking place and cleaning vac filters 3x the normal rate. The owner was very pleased when no dust was apparent in the next day’s painting operations.

One highlight to the project was a graphic inlay of the company logo in the main hallway. We had one shot to get this right and I'm pleased to say it went very well. It was a surprise to many and the employees and management team loved it. The maintenance crews are very happy to have a floor that is considerably easier to maintain and the look is exactly what they were looking for.

It was a great project; glad to be a part of it. Hat's off to Zack and Nick...you two rocked.

Mica (Metallic) Floor Coating and Countertop Project Complete

Texture of concrete overlay

New floor was installed

Finish surface installed on floor and countertops

New kitchen floor and counter
New floor (image shows more texture than whats actual)
A 100 year old home gets a modern look that "fits" the decor very well. The project involved removing a 3 year old concrete overlay on the floor and counter, installing a new floor in the dinning room after leveling the surface, filling cracks and seams and finally the floor coating installation. I'm quite certain that this was the first metallic floor and counter project in a residence in West Michigan. The chip is a mica blend of primarily copper on the floor and "midnight" for the counter with just a touch of copper. The contrasting colors blended perfectly and complimented the rooms very well. Another very happy customer! You have to love it when the owner comes in and say "WOW...I really love this".

Garage Floor Coatings - Is Where It Began

V8 High Performance Coatings began as a Garage Floor Coating and now is found in most building types. While epoxy and other coatings and systems have their place, V8 fills the high end hassle free gap that lesser coatings can't deliver long term. A coating that is up to 5X stronger than epoxy means the sheen will be there years after it's applied. The polyurea and polyaspartic resin mixture means you can open the door and let the sun shine in...it's not going to yellow on you. Are you a fan…College, Professional; show off your colors on your floor! You are not limited to a single pattern or color. Combine your color choice with graphic inlays, and your ultimate floor is done. V8 is strong enough to handle the harshest industrial environments, yet delivers a level of finish that will turn your garage into a show room. Be careful though; what you are parking on this floor might be the second thing friends see when they walk in.

New Basement Flooring Project to Begin This Week!

Originating from an initial discussion on the smell of sulfur seeping through the basement floor, the owner asked about the sealing qualities of V8 High Performance Coatings. As a 100% solid floor coating, the product would definitely encapsulate what it covered. It’s strong bonding characteristics, color and texture options, the project grew from a simple clear coat to a full chip application covering nearly 1,000-sf of partial finished basement. Prep work will include crack filling with the V8 Fast Patch product. Grinding is possible within about an hour or two of applying meaning there will be no wait time in prepping. The entire surface will be scored using 7” hand grinders and as well as a 17” grinder with vac attachments to minimize dust in this occupied home. The no VOC (no smell) was a huge selling factor and knowing the floor will outlast their kids growing up made V8 an easy choice.
Pictures will be added as soon as possible.

Basement Project Continues!
The scope of work increase with the addition of a 500-sf crawl space that needed sealing and crack repair. The special blend mixture of chips the owners selected also took additional time to order and ship. The project continues to be a great success even with the challenges that arisen at seemingly, every corner. Previously replaced concrete created uneven level changes that took considerable effort to smoothen the transition and cracks that were allowing air to escape from under the floor created bubbles in the material and had to be dealt with as well. In all, over 1,600-sf will be completed this week with final picture to come. Here are some of the progress photo’s so far.

Basement is complete!!!

One Day Installation

One day installation is possible with V8 Coatings because of the proprietary properties of our coating. On a floor of about 1,000sf- you will have about 4-5 hours in prep work (diamond grinding – never chemical etching). From the minute the primer coat is applied, only 20 – 30 minutes is required before the second coat is ready to be applied. The chip coat requires about 45 minutes before scraping off excess chips. This is the longest wait time between coats. With most projects, by the time you are done applying one coat (takes about 20 – 30 minutes to cover a 1,000sf), you can immediately start on the next coat. Standard epoxy requires 5 – 24 hours between coats. Allow about 3 hours for applying all coats and within 8 hours of the time you started prep work, you will have a completed project.  5 hours after completion, the floor is ready for traffic.
